Karena menurut GSP, film Soekarno Indonesia Merdeka ini lebih cenderung pada sisi komersilnya yang resmi dirilis pada tanggal cantik 11 Desember 2013 11-12-13 lalu mengambil latar cerita kehidupannya di tahun 1920an hingga kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia. Romantisme kehidupan Soekarno bersama ibu Inggit dan Fatmawati juga akan mewarnai ceritanya termasuk perjuangan mereka untuk mewujudkan Indonesia Sinopsis Film Soekarno Indonesia Merdeka Sukarno kecil dahulu bernama Kusno, namun karena tubuhnya kurus dan sakit-sakitan, nama tersebut diganti Sukarno oleh ayahnya. Dengan nama baru itu, ayahnya berharap dia akan menjadi ksatria layaknya Adipati Karno. Waktu berlalu, Sukarno menjadi pemuda yang aktif dan mengguncang podium terlalu 'vokal' dan berani, dia akhirnya dijebloskan dalam penjara. Dia dituduh menghasut dan memberontak seperti Komunis. Tapi keberanian Sukarno tidak pernah padam. Dia makin menggugat. Pledoinya yang sangat terkenal, Indonesia Menggugat membuat dia dibuang ke Ende, lalu kota itu Sukarno rehat sejenak dari politik. Dia jatuh hati pada gadis cantik bernama Fatmawati. Padahal saat itu Sukarno masih menjadi suami Inggit Garnasih, perempuan yang selalu menjadi perisai baginya tatkala di penjara dan dibuang. Inggit harus rela melihat sang suami tercinta jatuh hati pada gadis lain. Di tengah kemelut rumah tangganya, Jepang datang memulai peperangan Asia Timur Raya. Birahi politiknya kembali menguat. Belanda takluk oleh Jepang. Sesuatu yang dulu dianggap raksasa bagi Sukarno, kini lenyap. Kemerdekaan Indonesia seolah di ambang itu Hatta dan Sjahrir, saingan politik Sukarno di masa muda mengingatkan bahwa Jepang tidak kalah bengisnya dengan Belanda. Tapi Sukarno punya sudut pandang berbeda. "Jika kita cerdik, kita bisa memanfaatkan Jepang untuk upaya meraih kemerdekaan Indonesia" kata Sukarno. Hatta terpengaruh. Tapi Sjahrir tidak. Kita semua tahu bahwa pada akhirnya kemerdekaan Indonesia terwujud pada tanggal 17 agustus 1945. Tapi apakah itu kemerdekaan yang diharapkan?
